Talk, type and dictate

Ask a question

Hold Control + Option, speak, then release. Click the Peek bar or press Control + Option + Return to type instead. The answer appears in a card; copy it or ask a follow-up there.

Dictate into an app

Click a text box first. Tap Option + Space, speak, then tap again. You can also hold the keys while speaking. Peek cleans up filler words and uses your Settings → General → Custom words list for names it often mishears.

Say “Hey Peek”

Turn on Wake Peek by saying “Hey Peek” in Settings → Voice & Audio. It is off by default. Your Mac shows its microphone indicator while this is on. Wake-word listening runs on your Mac; a question starts only after you speak to Peek.
